About
Nedra Cannon, LMSW is a licensed mental health therapist, corporate trainer, keynote speaker, and retreat facilitator with more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals, organizations, and communities in healing, growth, and transformation. Her work bridges clinical expertise with dynamic training and speaking, equipping both individuals and professionals with practical tools to navigate trauma, foster resilience, and create meaningful change.
Nedra earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Grand Valley State University and has built a career rooted in trauma-informed care, culturally responsive practice, and a deep commitment to equity. She is widely recognized for her ability to translate complex mental health concepts into engaging, actionable strategies—whether in the therapy room, training space, or on stage.
As a corporate trainer and keynote speaker, Nedra partners with organizations, healthcare systems, universities, and leadership teams to deliver impactful trainings on topics such as trauma-informed care, implicit bias, burnout prevention, and supporting marginalized populations. Her presentations are known for being both thought-provoking and practical, creating space for reflection, courageous dialogue, and sustainable organizational change.
Her clinical and coaching work focuses on helping individuals and couples navigate life transitions, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with their sense of purpose and emotional well-being. She specializes in working with women, couples, college students, and professionals experiencing anxiety, burnout, identity exploration, and relational challenges. Through individual therapy, coaching, and couples intensives, Nedra helps clients deepen communication, repair trust, and build healthier connections.
Nedra is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based approach for processing trauma. She integrates EMDR with other therapeutic modalities to support clients in addressing the impact of trauma, reducing distress, and developing greater emotional resilience.
A significant focus of Nedra’s work centers on the mental health experiences of marginalized and historically underserved populations. She brings a culturally grounded lens to her practice and trainings, addressing the intersections of race, identity, systemic stressors, and mental health. Her work supports both individuals and organizations in recognizing and addressing implicit bias while fostering more inclusive, affirming environments.
In addition to her clinical and training work, Nedra facilitates women’s wellness retreats that provide intentional space for rest, reflection, and renewal. These experiences are designed to help women reconnect with their creativity, clarity, and inner strength.
Nedra is also an author and speaker who shares insights on healing, emotional wellness, relationships, and personal growth. She is the creator of the Healing, Thriving, and Growing as a Person of Color Journal Card Deck and co-author, alongside her daughter Chase Anderson, of Being in Harmony: Finding Hues of You Journal Workbook. Through her writing, speaking, and trainings, she encourages deeper self-reflection, intentional living, and collective healing.
Throughout her career, Nedra has worked across diverse mental health and healthcare settings and has provided supervision, consultation, and professional development for clinicians and organizations seeking to strengthen their trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
Her work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection, reflection, and courageous conversations—and she considers it an honor to support individuals and organizations as they move toward greater clarity, balance, and well-being.
